How do I install and access the Crowded WordPress plugin?
Download the Crowded Collect plugin from the WordPress Marketplace and install it on your site. Ensure the plugin is activated, and access the plugin under Settings.
What happens when the button is clicked?
When visitors click the embedded button, a pop-up with your collection or fundraiser form appears.
Can I change the button text?
Not with the WordPress plugin at the moment – the button text is fixed as "Donate." To use custom button text, use the HTML embed option instead, or create your own button and link it directly to your collection URL.
How do I get the Collection ID from Crowded?
- Log in to the Crowded web platform and click Collections in the sidebar.
- Either create a new Fundraiser collection and click Embed Collection on the final screen, or select an existing collection, click the three dots, and select Embed Collection.
- Select WordPress Plugin and copy the Collection ID.
How do I add the button to my WordPress site?
- Click Crowded Collect Plugin in the WordPress sidebar.
- Scroll to the Button-linked Pop-Up section.
- Click Add Collection and paste in the Collection ID.
- Click the copy symbol to copy the shortcode.
- Navigate to the page where you want the button to appear.
- Open the editor and add an HTML code block or shortcode block.
- Paste the shortcode into the block.
- Save and test.
Is the WordPress plugin free?
The Crowded Collect WordPress plugin itself is free to download from the WordPress Marketplace.
Can I embed the same Collection on multiple pages?
Yes! You can use the same Collection ID across as many websites or pages as you need. Each instance will process donations into the same Crowded collection, and all activity will be consolidated in your Crowded dashboard.
Why is the button pop-up not working?
- Check that the Collection is active (not deactivated) and not deleted on the Crowded platform.
- Try clearing your browser cache or viewing the page in an incognito window.
- Ensure the WordPress plugin is up to date and properly installed.
If I update my Collection on Crowded, will the embedded version update automatically?
Yes. Because the embed pulls live data from your Crowded collection, any changes you make to the collection on the Crowded platform – such as updating the goal amount, description, or image – will be reflected automatically in the embedded version on your site without needing to re-paste the code.
