Where do I check my organization's tax-exempt status in Crowded?
- Log into Crowded on the web platform
- Go to Compliance in the left-hand navigation
- Scroll to Tax-Exempt Status near the bottom of the page. You'll see your organization's legal name, EIN, and a status badge.
My status shows "Not Found" — does that mean I lost my exempt status?
Not necessarily. First search your organization on the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. If you find your listing there, the mismatch is on Crowded's side — contact support with a screenshot of your IRS search result.
I just got my IRS determination letter. Why doesn't Crowded show me as verified yet?
It can take the IRS 1-2 months to publish new organizations in its public data files. Contact the support team with the letter, so our team can manually verify your organization’s status.
My organization operates under a parent's group exemption. Why am I showing as "Not Found"?
Subordinate organizations under a group exemption often don't appear individually in IRS data. Contact support with your parent organization's name and EIN so we can verify the relationship.
My status shows "Revoked." How do I confirm that's accurate?
Search the IRS Auto-Revocation List. Revocation is typically the result of missing three consecutive years of required 990 filings. If you believe that your status is not revoked, and there is a mistake, contact Crowded support with documentation (filing confirmation, IRS correspondence) so we can flag your account for manual review while the IRS record catches up.
