Why do I need to submit my social security number on the application?
We use your social security number solely for the purpose of verifying your identity. If/when you hand over the ownership of your Crowded account, your SSN will be deleted and replaced by the new Crowded account owner.
I don't have a social security number, what identification can I submit instead?
If you do not have a Social Security Number, you can use an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) instead.
If you do not have any of the forms of identification, reach out to our Support team.
What document can I submit to verify my social security number other than a social security card?
You can verify your social security number by submitting one of the following documents:
- Filed Tax Return*
- W-2
- 1099
*Tax return or W-2 must be current within the past two filing years.
The same documents are acceptable for verifying ITIN. The full SSN must be visible on the submitted document, not only the last four digits.
